On 1st of January, 2011 ESD in co-operation with the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs established the Eastonian Center of Eastern Partnership (ECEAP) with the aim to promote democratic values in the six European Union Eastern Partnership countries: Armenia, Aserbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
ECEAP activities are focused on short-term training, seminars, conferences and round-table discussions for the civil servants of the EaP partner countries in order to strenghten their capasities in administrative matters as well as cooperation with the EU. In addition ECEAP provides scholarships for young EaP diplomats to study at ESD and carries out research work on issues concerned.
The centre was officially opened on 26th Jan 2011.
